Athlete Nick Smidt from Assen reports with an ankle injury for the World Athletics Championships

Runner Nick Smidt from Assen waives participation in the world athletics championship. The 26-year-old athlete of AAC’61 suffers too much from an ankle injury.

Smidt had secured participation in the 400 meter hurdles event. He is the Dutch record holder on this number and would have started this coming Sunday. In addition, he could be used in the relay 4 times 400 meters.

The World Athletics Championship is in Budapest, Hungary. The title fight will take place from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 August. Meerkampster Sofie Dokter from Groningen has to get to work right away on the opening day. Sunday is the second day of the heptathlon.

Jordan van Klinken

For Jorinde van Klinken from Assen, the championship starts on Sunday morning with the discus throw qualifying round. The final is on Tuesday evening. Van Klinken also participates in the shot put. Qualifying round and final of this part are on Saturday, August 26. In the morning the athletes can qualify for the final battle. This one is in the evenings.
