Thanks to 25 goals, Mateo Retegui is a third place in the top scorer of Serie A – Atalanta to third place in the table and the Champions League. In the premier class, however, the 26-year-old international in Italy will no longer be seen, because he is facing Saudi Arabia before a transfer to Al-Qadsiah FC. In Bergamo, this departure is probably perceived with a crying and a laughing eye after only one year, because the transfer has it and the replacement is almost in your own ranks.
According to the journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Atalanta, which Retegui won from Genoa CFC in the summer of 2024 for 20.9 million euros, receives a transfer fee of 65 million euros. This would make him the most expensive Italian in football history – this has been Sandro Tonali since the summer of 2023. It will be Retegui’s fourth change since the summer of 2023, in which a transfer flows-including the upcoming Saudi deal, the sums paid for him would increase to EUR 110 million.
