Bundesliga spectacle in Leipzig
In the last second: FC Bayern fails early title
Updated on 03.05.2025 – 5:38 p.m.Reading time: 3 min.

The German record champion met toxic and effective Leipziger. A game developed with two completely different halves.
The title decision in the Bundesliga is again postponed: FC Bayern played its first match ball for the German championship shortly before the end. As a guest at RB Leipzig, the team of coach Vincent Kompany conceded the goal for 3: 3 (0: 2) difference in the fourth minute of injury time.
With nine points ahead and a goal difference of 30 goals better, the Munichs of pursuers Bayer Leverkusen are practically at risk but no longer any danger. The title is still to be taken from them purely mathematically. Sports director Christoph Freund therefore judged after the game at Sky: “We are quasi master.”
If the Werkelf did not win on Sunday at SC Freiburg on Sunday (from 5:30 p.m. in the T-Online Live ticker), the Munich team would also be calculated as the new title winner two game days before the end of the season. It would be the 34th championship.
The first half in Leipzig belonged to the hosts: striker Benjamin Šeško brought his team worth seeing (11th minute) before Lukas Klostermann (39th) increased. Bavarians clapped with the restart and came to equalize by Eric Dier (62nd) and Michael Olise (63.). Leroy Sané shot the Munich lead (83.) – then Yussuf Poulsen hit (90. +4).
In Leipzig at the beginning, an above-average number of eyes were on two Bayern stars who were not on the lawn. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer returned to the squad after his muscle fiber tear, but only sat on the bench. Harry Kane crouched on the stands because of his yellow lock in Bayern jacket-and watched the Munich swords.
So it was not the guests with Kane replacement Thomas Müller in the storm tip that put pressure on the beginning. Rather, Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara (2nd) had the lead on the foot when the ball fell in front of his feet after a corner of Eric dier’s body, but new representative Jonas Urbig parried brilliantly. Only then did Bayern approach Serge Gnabry (9th) and Leroy Sané (10th) for the first time the Leipzig goal.
And suddenly, when the Munich names seemed to be more dangerous, Urbig failed: After a bad pass from Michael Olise, RB playmaker Xavi served the Šeško, which was started, that Bavaria’s goal was slipped out of the goal. From around 35 meters, Šeško lifted the ball into the net via the stunned goalkeeper. The favorite tried to strike back subsequently, but became far too rare.
Rather, the FCB, who had to do without defenders Min-Jae Kim (Achilles tendon problems) at short notice, made annoying defects in the backward movement. At their own corner, the Bavarians let themselves be overcrowded, Xavi found Šeško (20th) again, but which failed with a weak shot on Urbig. The 2: 0, which monastery man headed down completely undisturbed after a great free kick flank from David Raum, was more than deserved.
After the break, things were still unchanged. Bayern struggled to control the ball, RB defended the attacks tightly. It needed what was screamed in football German as a “can opener”-and delivered. The Englishman, who will leave Munich in the summer, headed hard after the Eckball by Olise. Only seconds afterwards, Olise even executed ice cold from the penalty area.
As a result, the Bavarians pressed and won several top -class players. Sané (64.) and Leon Goretzka (66.) failed due to RB goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, Konrad Laimer (69.) headed from five meters over the goal, Olise scored the post (79.). Only Sané redeemed Bayern professionals, but Leipzig made back into the final seconds-and crashed the party.
