Beautiful words from the chancellor, clear announcements from the boxing champion. Wladimir Klitschko used the presentation of the M100 Media Prize to demand more support from Olaf Scholz.
Klitschko accepted the prestigious award in Sanssouci on behalf of the Ukrainian people. The chancellor politely praised his courage and bravery and reassured him: “Putin must not win this war!”
Klitschko’s counterattack: “I’m impressed by what you say. But I don’t just want to receive words. Send action!”
The brother of Kiev’s mayor said he could hardly explain Germany’s politics at home. “For years we have warned. But you built Nord Stream 2 and made a pro-Russia policy.”
Klitschko praised Poland and the USA. Klitschko said to Scholz: “The sanctions are effective, but only heavy weapons are effective at the front. Send us more of these! If we don’t stop the Russians, they will keep rolling. We fight for you too.”
