Linda de Mol’s sweetheart is definitely not prosecuted for rape, and according to her that is more than logical. “There is a difference between cross -border behavior and a sexual offense.”
It is January 2022 when Nienke Wijnhoven, former candidate of The Voice of Holland, is crying at the talk show table of Beau van Erven Dorens. She said there that former band leader Jeroen Rietbergen ‘would feel for a moment’ with her. “This is also where it becomes punishable, isn’t it?” Kees van der Spek remarked. And host Beau Stellig: “This is assault.”
Linda responds
Two days later, Nienke decided to report a declaration, after which the Public Prosecution Service decided a year later to prosecute him for rape. Another year later, in May 2024, the OM suddenly decided to cancel the whole case. Her attempt to still be prosecuted through an article 12 procedure has failed, it appears today.
There is a lack of evidence and the decision of the Court is no longer possible. That means that the Rietbergen case is definitively closed. And that is why Linda is finally making herself heard.
“It wasn’t right”
Linda has always established herself reluctantly in this issue, but now she gives a long written response in De Telegraaf. “I stood behind Jeroen in this case and I did that based on facts from the file and things that I immediately knew they were not right.”
She continues: “There is a very big difference between cross -border behavior and a sexual offense. If you give in the first and openly apologizing, that does not mean that you will have done the second.”
Sex offense
In a sexual offense, Linda would have closed the door for Jeroen. “If I had believed that, our relationship would definitely have had no new chance.”
Then about the Beau’s Talkshow’s broadcast in question: “This case was created in a live television broadcast and ultimately all those involved delivered and damaged a heavy time. I hope the book can now close.”
