At least six dead after Russian missile hits apartment building in hometown Zelensky | War Ukraine and Russia

In the Ukrainian city of Kryvy Rih, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, at least six people have been killed after a Russian missile hit an apartment building. Several people have also been injured. The death toll may still rise, as possible victims are still being searched under the rubble.

Last night, Russia again carried out airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital Kiev and other cities in the country. The city of Kryvyi Rih in southeastern Ukraine was also hit by rockets. Kryry Rih is the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and is a frequent target of Russian attacks.

Governor Serhi Lysak said Kryvy Rih was rocked by a “massive missile attack” last night. The anti-aircraft defenses, he said, were able to deflect three cruise missiles, but others hit civilian targets, including a five-story apartment building. Photos from Ukrainian media show that part of the apartment complex has burned out.

The Russians also carried out air strikes elsewhere in Ukraine last night. In Kharkiv, not far from the Russian border, a government building and a warehouse were hit by cruise missiles. There are no reports of casualties from this town yet.

The capital Kiev was also attacked again with cruise missiles. The air defense managed to shoot them all out of the sky. “For the time being, we have not received any information about casualties or damage,” said Sergiy Popko, head of Kiev’s military administration.
