At least 7 dead, including a child, in avalanche in Indian Himalayas | Abroad

“23 tourists, including 6 from the deep valley, have been rescued (…) and transferred to the nearby Indian Army medical facilities. Unfortunately, 7 persons succumbed,” the army said in a statement.

The avalanche originated near the Nathu La mountain pass on the India-China border, a popular spot for local tourists. The road was also blocked by the avalanche, forcing about 350 tourists to be evacuated.
