Today, more than half the number of flights at Schiphol have been canceled due to the snow. There were actually supposed to be 1,200 departures and arrivals, but 700 of those were canceled.
According to the airport, the major problems at Schiphol are due to a combination of factors. It takes time for the ‘snow fleet’, consisting of seventy vehicles, to clear the runways of snow and ice.
