The summer months are traditional pressure in animal shelters, but it has never been as busy as this year. There are currently 100 cats in Rekkem, of which about thirty with foster families. The number of sick animals is also remarkably high, and that puts extra pressure on the staff.
“Due to a lack of space, we had to make a complete move in the shelter to make more space,” says Barbara Decorte of animal shelter the cuddly legs. “There are currently 16 cats in quarantine, we never had that much there.”
