Astrid Holleeder has been absent as an interpreter at RTL Tonight for a while. Not talented enough, most people thought. But that turns out to be different. “There was a miscommunication.”
RTL brought in Astrid Holleeder purely because of her intriguing surname. Her pay slip says talk show signer, but she really didn’t know anything about it – friends and enemies agree on that. After she shut down at the beginning of October after receiving a substantive question, we have barely seen her in the TV show.
Obstacles
Just before Christmas, Astrid only wanted to say that ‘some obstacles’ needed to be resolved. And now she tells RTL Boulevard what kind of ‘obstacles’ it was about. “It was actually decided that I could go to work, so that I would be protected for that, but that apparently turned out to be a miscommunication between services,” she says.
She continues: “And because of that, at some point I was told: ‘You are not allowed to do anything anymore.’ Of course, I was off the radar at Tonight for a while, but that’s possible again soon, so I’ll be back.”
Missed some time
The fact that Astrid is not a good interpreter apparently did not play a role. Daphne Bunskoek at the desk: “We missed her for a while at RTL Tonight and we now know why.”
TV critic Rob Goossens: “Yes, and what a painful reason. At one point she mentioned ‘obstacles’ on her Instagram, so we already thought: it will have to be looked into this angle a bit. Then the first thing you are afraid of is that there are developments that her security situation has changed.”
Silly
Fortunately, that was not the case, according to Rob. Colleague Luuk Ikink: “That’s very silly, actually. This is perhaps the most famous woman who is protected in the Netherlands and things go so wrong. Isn’t that very strange?”
Rob again: “Yes, it is also very painful for the services, so I am happy – also for the services – that they managed to solve it and that she can now return.”
Speculation
