Assistant referee Franca Overtoom will be active this summer at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. With the appointment, Overtoom makes her debut at a football world championship.

    The born Obdamse can therefore travel to the other side of the world next summer. She does this as an assistant referee. In total, FIFA selected 33 referees, 55 assistants (lines judges) and 19 video referees. Dutchman Pol van Boekel has also been selected. He will be active as VAR in the final tournament.

    In the elevator

    Overtoom’s career has been on the rise for years. The assistant referee from North Holland made the match in 2018 Telstar against Jong FC Utrecht her debut in professional football. At the end of 2021, she again made her debut in the premier league as an assistant. In the match between Go Ahead Eagles and FC Groningen (0-1).
