BOAs in the municipality of Assen can now use handcuffs if necessary. They had insisted on this because they are increasingly confronted with aggression in their work.
The State Secretary of Justice and Security has given permission. Boas from the municipality of Assen have now followed a course so that they can use the handcuffs.
The boas may also apply violence in certain situations if de-escalation is no longer possible. That violence must then be “proportional and professional”. The auxiliary officer of the judiciary will always check it afterwards, because any violence of violence must be reported mandatory.
It is expected that the boas in Assen can work with the new powers immediately after the summer holidays.
