How many clothes should a basic wardrobe contain? Here the spirits differ – while some have been doing with three T -shirts, two pants, a shirt/blouse and a sweater for a long time, others consume this over two days.

The Swedish slow fashion label Asket has been thinking about it for some time-for a good ten years when it was founded. The idea was to build a clothing brand that meets the need for constant basic equipment. With 50 parts.

“From the beginning we stated that there is a natural limit for the selection of what belongs in a permanent wardrobe. Every garment has to earn its place – for its permanent aesthetic relevance and its everyday benefits,” explains the brand in a message.

Stop Asket?

The 50 parts are now reached – the last product, wool trousers, will be released in September and then it is concluded – there will be no new products. Does that mean asket stops? Far from it. The label continues to be committed to sustainability and will file a lifelong goal at its collection of timeless essentials – “their continuous refinement will remain a lifelong goal,” promises Asket.

“In the coming years, you will see well -thought -out updates, subtle further developments and well -considered improvements in our deliberately limited range of 49 – soon 50 – essentials for men’s clothing,” adds the label.

The development of the “timeless essentials”

What is indispensable according to Asket, which 50 clothes deserve their place? It started in 2015 with a white T-shirt that is now available in two strengths and lengths. Shirts followed – starting with the Oxford shirt made of organic cotton, now also from linen, popelin, flannel and denim. For colder days, the overs shirt made of organic cotton or wool. Even a polo shirt should not be missing, with a long or short arm. For leisure: a loopback sweatshirt with suitable trousers in two lengths, a hoodie for covering and one with zipper.

Who counted? 18 products so far and knitting, pants, jackets, underwear and accessories are still missing. There is, for example, a sweatshirt made of merino wool, as a variants with a short zipper, with turtleneck or as a polo. Likewise, a Merino wool cardigan, a cashmere sweater and a thick wool sweater for the cold days.

There is also a short wool coat, as well as a “car coat” for the transition days, a “field jacket”, a jacket with a zipper and of course a jeans jacket should not be missing. This brings the number to 30 different products.

And the rest? Underwear (two models), socks made of organic cotton or merino wool, swim shorts, a belt in three colors, a cashmere scarf (also in oversized), a beanie – made of wool or cashmere. Wait, that is only 40 products.

What else is missing? Pants. Denims in three fits, chinos in two designs and fit shapes, shorts made of cotton or linen and the pants made of merino wool so that every season is covered.

If you add the women’s collection, which has been in the program since 2021, there are a few more products – the tank top, which is also often worn by men, a slip dress and a slip skirt.

The “Wool Trouser” from 100 percent merino wool and woven in Italy comes in September and can now be pre -ordered.
