Asked for a cigarette on the street – then stabbed him with a knife

In Berlin-Gesundbrunnen

Knife attack in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen on Sunday afternoon.

According to the police, a 35-year-old and a companion (31) were on the sidewalk of Pankstrasse around 2 p.m. A previously unknown man is said to have asked the two for a cigarette. The 35-year-old refused to be released, police said. Then there was an argument.

The stranger is said to have suddenly pulled a knife and stabbed in the direction of the 35-year-old. This was able to dodge, but suffered cuts on one hand – presumably while defending against the knife wounds.

Then the attacker fled. Rescue workers took the injured man to a hospital. The police are now investigating.
