The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the municipality of The Hague and NATO invite young, ambitious artists to participate in an art competition: a street-art Make a memorial wall painting on the occasion of the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague.

In January 2024, NATO unveiled its first public mural, made by street artists in Vilnius, Lithuania, in honor of the Top of 2023, which symbolizes the mission of NATO for collective defense. The competition went on to Washington DC to commemorate NATO’s 75th anniversary. This year the baton will be passed on to The Hague, where young talents get the chance to design a work for the NATO summit.

The wall painting competition is part of the # campaignProtectthefuture From NATO, an alliance -wide involvement program for young people that emphasizes the importance of freedom, safety, democratic values ​​and peace.

The 1st wall painting of this NATO competition, entitled ‘Life Under A Peaceful Sky‘, was designed by the young Lithuanian artist žygimantas Amelinas and can be found on a wall next to Reformatiplein in Vilnius. The 2nd wall painting of NATO, entitled ‘Security Through Cooperation‘, was designed by the young Danish artist Eske Tourbourg, painted by DC Mural artist Hamilton Glass and can now be seen in the center of Washington DC, close to Walter E. Washington Conference Center.

Criteria

The competition is open to everyone from 18 to 35 years old from one of the 32 NATO countries, including aspiring artists and anyone interested in sharing a visual design under this year’s theme, ”Maintaining Oured Future. ‘ Artists are encouraged to create an optical illusion by using three -dimensional (3D) impressions on a two -dimensional horizontal surface and are invited to submit their idea for a street wall painting to the NATO website on March 31, 2025 at the latest.

Announcement

One of the jury members is Michiel Corver, director of The Hague Street Art. The winning artwork will be unveiled in The Hague in June 2025, visible to world leaders and representatives of the top.
