On March 2, 2023, “Sonne und Beton” came to German cinemas. The screenplay for the film is closely based on the novel of the same name by comedian and podcaster Felix Lobrecht. MUSIKEXPRESS conducted interviews with the director of the film, David Wnendt, and one of his actors, the rapper Luvre47:

David Wendt

David Wnendt made a name for himself in 2011 with his debut “Kriegerin”. The strip about a girl and a young woman in an East German, neo-Nazi scene won a number of German film awards and Wnendt himself was honored at the Bavarian Film Awards as “Best Young Director”. Further success followed in 2013 and 2015. He directed the bestselling film adaptations “Wetlands”, based on the book of the same name by Charlotte Roche, and “He’s Back,” based on Timur Vermes’. In 2018, the 45-year-old helped found the production company “Seven Elephants”. He also directed their second film, “Sonne und Beton”.

Luvre47

Most people are probably familiar with Luvre47 since Felix Lobrecht announced that he was involved in the soundtrack for “Sonne und Beton”. The native of Gropiusstadt, whose center of life is still in the south of Neukölln, should have been known to fans of the Berlin rap scene for a long time. At the latest with the NIX IS GUT EP released in 2019 and the video for “U7-Freestyle” it was clear that he would be an integral part of this scene for the foreseeable future. The number and quality of projects that have appeared since then have cemented this claim: ZWEIMALVIER, a collab EP with Bangs from the Army of Brothers, the HAMSTERRAD EP, the 2222 EP, his debut album HERZ, his second album 1000 NÄCHTE, feature parts and sometime in between “Kein Bock” with Paula Hartmann.

Rich texts, detailed pictures, the feeling of understanding and the awareness that there is much more. Plus a persona between-seen-far-too-much-in-the-block and I-am-not-finished-with-the-block-yet. In the film “Sonne und Beton” Luvre47 embodies the character Marco, the big brother of the protagonist Lukas.
