Arsenal star Declan Rice scored against Burnley. His goal celebration was a touching gesture to his aunt.

Arsenal midfield star Declan Rice remembered his late aunt by celebrating his goal after the 2-0 goal against Burnley FC on Saturday. The 26-year-old clarified that after the game. After scoring the final score, Rice knelt on the ground and pointed both index fingers toward the sky.

“My aunt died before the Fulham game. I loved her more than anything,” said Rice. Arsenal played against Fulham FC on October 18th. The aunt’s death was already two weeks ago.

Rice’s aunt was considered a great supporter of his career. “She traveled everywhere with my mom to see me. I know she was looking down, so today was for her,” Rice explained of his gesture on Saturday.

The footballer also said goodbye to his aunt again on Instagram. He posted a photo with her on his Instagram story and wrote: “That was it for you today Bev, I know you’re looking down on me! I love you forever!”

With the 2-0 win against Burnley, Arsenal remain confident at the top of the Premier League table. With 25 points, the London club is currently seven points ahead of second-placed Bournemouth FC, who will face Manchester City on Sunday and can move within four points of Arsenal with a win. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team is in ninth place with 16 points, but can jump up to second place with a win against Bournemouth. The gap to Arsenal would then be six points.
