Anyone who wants to cool off these hot days with the waters of the Gasselterveld and with the car that goes that way may have to be patient when paying for paid parking. Staatsbosbeheer has to do with a malfunction in the online payments.
A few years ago, Staatsbosbeheer introduced paid parking to prevent parking chaos at the swimming pools’ t Nije Hemelriek and the Gasselterveld. To prevent long queues at the parking machine on the spot, it is also possible for visitors to discuss and pay a parking space online in advance.
But that system has not been working for a few weeks. Due to a malfunction, it is not possible to pay parking online. Visitors who come by car have therefore been sentenced to the machine on the spot. There are regularly long lines on busy beach days. Because without paying, the motorists do not come through the barrier upon departure.
Forester Linde Veldhoen from Staatsbosbeheer says he finds the situation very annoying, but it will simply have to be paid for parking. It is not known how long the fault with the payment system will take.
