Israeli army: Fighting breaks in three areas in Gaza

The Israeli army has announced combat breaks in three designated parts of Gaza. The “tactical break” follows shortly after the army announced that it will take steps to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave after international pressure and warnings from aid organizations about the increasing famine.

The breaks start on Sunday and, according to the army, have to take place daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. local time in the densely populated areas al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah and Gaza City. These are areas where the Israeli army is currently not performing operations. In addition, permanent secure routes are designated between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.

The Egyptian state television Al Qahera News TV reports on Sunday that the first trucks with relief supplies from Egypt were crossed the border with Gaza at Rafah. According to the Israeli army, Droppings van Foodhulp in Gaza also resumed on Saturday evening. In a statement, the army says that it coordinates assistance with the United Nations and international organizations to “increase the size of the humanitarian aid that comes in the Gaza Strip”.

In a reaction, the UN say the efforts to help Palestinians in Gaza increase during the announced breaks. “We are in contact with our teams on the spot who will do everything we can to achieve as many starving people as possible during this period,” says UN-Noodhulp coordinator Tom Fletcher in a message on X.
