Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled Kommunarovka from large-caliber mortars

Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the village of Kommunarovka on the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. This was reported by the representative office of the DPR in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) in Telegram.

As noted, the shelling took place on the evening of Sunday, February 20. Ukrainian security forces used banned mines of 120 mm caliber.

The representative of the People’s Militia of the LPR, Ivan Filiponenko, said that over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired on the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk Republic 66 times. As a result of shelling, three civilians were injured: two in the village of Znamenka, one in the village of Prishib.

February 17 representatives DNR and LNR stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire on their positions, ignoring the Minsk agreements, using artillery and mortars. The representative of the LPR, Rodion Miroshnik, stressed that by shelling the republics of Donbass with heavy weapons, official Kiev violates the ceasefire measures in Donbass, which were signed in the summer of 2020.

Western countries providing military and diplomatic support to Kiev have repeatedly called on the Ukrainian authorities to comply with the Minsk agreements. Thus, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted that they must be observed by all parties. Scholz recalled: President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky promised to submit draft laws on the special status of Donbass, suffrage and constitutional reform for discussion in the contact group on Ukraine.
