Arjen Lubach has been criticized for his continuous stream of jokes about the late British Queen Elizabeth. Yesterday he showed a simulation of Elizabeth lying in her coffin.
NPO star Arjen Lubach even seizes the death of the British Queen Elizabeth to make it clear that he is a true republican. Last week, on the day of her death, he joked on his show: “We start with sad news. We don’t have a guest tonight, because at the beginning of the evening we unfortunately heard that she passed away.”

Arjen went one step further in last night’s De Avondshow. In it he complained about the amount of media attention for the death of the Queen. “In Britain, it’s all about nothing else. It’s really hysterical there,” said the presenter.
Then he shows a simulation of Queen Elizabeth being filmed lying in her coffin. “I was zapping a bit and there’s even a channel there, BBC Extra Plus, with a live inside report.”
“This is sick!”
BBC Extra Plus and that report ‘from the inside’ of the coffin are of course Arjen’s inventions. “Wow! Those Brits are just crazy man!” he jokes.
Dan: “No, okay, this was very sick, but she probably would have liked this herself, because she had ‘a lot of humor’.”
Moments later, when British star James Morrison sits down at his desk, Arjen asks: “Did we hurt you with that video?”
He thereupon: “A little.”
distasteful
Many viewers find it distasteful of Arjen. “I think Arjen Lubach and his program are very high, but I thought the Queen Elizabeth coffin film was just a step too far,” tweets viewer Peter.
One FRVDG: “I think that Lubach missed the mark a bit with his ‘sketch’ of a camera in Queen Elizabeth’s coffin.”
Viewer Laurens reacts on YouTube: “I rarely respond to a video, but I think broadcasting the so-called live images of the queen is really an uncomfortable joke. Even for a person like Lubach who is against the monarchy.”
Some people think that the coffin statues are real, because Arjen does not clearly state that it is a simulation. “Was there really a camera in that box? ”
