Movement comes in at Hertha!
On Wednesday morning, Santiago Ascacibar (25) ran his lanes alone in the England training camp – it was his last appearance in Hertha clothes for the time being. At noon, the Argentinian said goodbye to the team and made his way to Italy.
There, Ascacibar joins Cremonese on loan. The Serie A promoted receives a purchase option. According to Italian media reports, this should be eight million euros.
According to reports, Ascacibar wanted a change after five years in Germany. Spain or Italy were his dream destinations – those responsible at Hertha fulfilled them. The Berliners are saving Ascacibar’s salary of 2.2 million euros for at least one year.
Already in the second half of the season, the six had submitted his change request to manager Fredi Bobic (50), but did not let himself get stuck in the relegation battle and made his contribution to staying up in the league.
Ascacibar came to Berlin from Stuttgart in winter 2020 under ex-coach Jürgen Klinsmann (57) for ten million euros. Instead of playing for Europe and in the Argentine national team, Ascacibar played three times against relegation with Hertha. In Italy he now wants to start a new career.
Krzysztof Piatek (27) also came from Milan in winter 2020. In order to save his basic salary of 4.5 million euros and to achieve a fee, the Pole should leave. But despite rumors from Italy that Turin and Salernitana are said to be interested in the striker, Hertha has not received any inquiries.
Things are looking better for Omar Alderete (25): The defender is said to be in Spain at the moment to bring his move to fruition. Most recently, Getafe was considered a hot candidate.
