ARD and ZDF broadcast from a TV studio in Mainz

The more than controversial World Cup in the desert state of Qatar will begin in just under ten months. The public broadcasters have partial rights to the tournament. The broadcasting center will be in Germany.

ARD and ZDF rely on a main location in Germany for the World Cup in Qatar. “Sport Bild” reported on Wednesday. Accordingly, the broadcasting center should be in Mainz. The reason for this is to ensure “broadcast scheduling”.

ARD broadcasts the World Cup final

Who and how many people should report on site would not be decided until “during the course of the year, depending on the situation”. What is certain, however, is that the final on December 18 will be broadcast by ARD.

Most of the heads of ZDF and ARD are also there. The moderator trio in the first consists of Jessy Wellmer, Alexander Bommes and Esther Sedlaczek, Bastian Schweinsteiger remains the “main expert”.

ZDF is again relying on Jochen Breyer, Katrin Müller-Hohenstein and Sven Voss. Per Mertesacker is again serving as an expert. It is not yet clear whether Christoph Kramer will be there again.

The public broadcasters show a total of 48 of the total of 64 World Cup games. This includes all games of the German national team as well as the opening game, both semi-finals and the final. The remaining 16 games are shown exclusively by MagentaTV, which owns the rights to all 64 games. As with the EM 2021, Johannes B. Kerner will act as regular moderator.

At the pan-European European championships in summer 2021, ARD and ZDF relied on a joint studio near the German team headquarters in Herzogenaurach.
