The German national handball team has been attracting more and more viewers to their TV sets for years. This was shown again at the European Championship opener against Austria (30:27).

The German handball players achieved the highest TV rating of the day on Thursday in their 30:27 European Championship opening win against Austria. 5.532 million viewers watched the game on ARD, which corresponded to a market share of 23.7 percent.

The game in Herning, Denmark was the most watched program of the day. The ZDF program “Der Bergdoktor” followed with 4.95 million viewers. Compared to the start of the World Cup against Poland a year ago, interest in the DHB selection actually increased. At that time, 4.99 million people watched.

The German team’s next game against Serbia is on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Here too, ARD broadcasts ernaut. At the end of the preliminary round, coach Dagur Sigurðsson’s team will play against Spain on Monday (8.30 p.m., ZDF).
