The Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels, Luc Terlinden, called for hope during the midnight mass in St. Rumbold’s Cathedral in Mechelen in “a time of war and violence, of blood and tears”. On Christmas Eve, he referred to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and the atrocities of the fallen Assad regime in Syria.
