Four members, an alternate member and an alternate judge are appointed to the Common Court of Justice. The Kingdom Council of Ministers has approved the nominations for appointment on the proposal of Minister Weerwind for Legal Protection.

Mr. JJJ Schols will be appointed as a member on April 1. Mrs. TC Henniphof and Mrs. EMJ Brink will be appointed as members with effect from May 1, 2024. The appointment of Mrs. B. Martinez-Hammer will take effect on July 1, 2024. They will be deployed in criminal law.

Mr. AJ Kromhout is appointed as deputy member. Mr. BJ van Ettekoven will be appointed as deputy judge for BES Civil Service as of March 1, 2024.

The Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba provides jurisdiction at first instance and on appeal on the islands. The judges at the Common Court of Justice hear, both at first instance and on appeal, civil cases, criminal cases and administrative cases (including tax cases) and are also involved in special courts of law (such as for civil service cases) and in boards charged with disciplinary proceedings.
