The Council of Ministers has agreed to the appointment of the Secretaries-General of Asylum and Migration, Climate and Green Growth and Public Housing and Spatial Planning. The appointments start on April 1, 2025.
Two ministries, one organization
At the start of the cabinet it was agreed to make the new ministries with minimal adjustments. In this way the focus remains on working on social tasks and large reorganisations that cost a lot of time, money and capacity are not necessary.
It has been decided that the ministries will receive a budget chapter, a Secretary General and a director of financial-economic matters. The policy support of the ministers remains positioned with the existing ministry. All civil servants remain in service there. For the Ministry of Asylum and Migration, this is the judiciary and security, for the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth that is economic affairs, and for the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning, this is the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
Appointment Secretaries General
For the interpretation of the function of Secretary General, the government has decided that it will be carried out in combination with another position in the administrative council. For each ministry, therefore, a sitting top official will combine the role of Secretary-General from 1 April with her or his current position.
Mr. AWH (Annet) Bertram becomes Secretary-General asylum and migration. She will combine this position with her current position as director-general migration, which she has fulfilled since 2023. Before that she was, among other things, Director-General Wonen, municipal secretary of The Hague and director-general of the Central Government Real Estate Agency/VBR.
Drs. GM (Gerdine) Keijzer-Baldé becomes Secretary-General Climate and Green Growth. She will combine this position with its existing position as a deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, now Economic Affairs, which it has been fulfilled since 2020. Before that, she was, among other things, general director of the IT implementation department at the Ministry of EZK, and director of the National Service for Identity Data from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
Drs. CBF (Chris) Kuijpers becomes Secretary-General of Housing and Spatial Planning. He combines this position with his position as Director-General for Housing and Building, which he has been filling since 2022. Before that he was director-general government, space and living.
