drs. EWE (Esther) Pijs will become program director-general Groningen and Subsurface at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister Bruins Slot of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment will take effect on April 1, 2022.
Esther Pijs is since 1 March 2022 quartermaster and intended program director general Groningen and Subsurface at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Before that, she was director of Heat & Subsurface since 2020 at the Directorate-General for Climate & Energy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. She was previously director of the Groningen Gas Transition Project Directorate at the Ministry of EZK, and held various positions, including Regional Director at the Ministries of EZK and LNV. Esther Pijs studied History and International Relations at Utrecht University.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
