Appointment of members of the Joint Court of Justice | News item

The Common Court of Justice will receive new members. The Kingdom Council of Ministers has agreed to this on the proposal of Minister Weerwind for Legal Protection.

As of 1 August 2023, the following will be appointed as members of the Common Court of Justice: Ms Vonk and Messrs Bracht, Van ‘t Westeinde, Bours and Drenth.

As of September 1, 2023, the following are appointed: Ms Groenendaal and Messrs Bronzwaer and Foppen.

The following are appointed as deputy members: Ms. Angela and Messrs. Loth, Soffers, Van der Spoel, H. de Boer, Van Suilen, Van Voorthuizen and De Werd.

Three deputy judges are also appointed: Ms Valdink and Messrs Frans and Ter Borg.

The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba handles the administration of justice in the first instance and on appeal on the islands. The judges at the Joint Court of Justice deal with civil cases, criminal cases and administrative law cases (including tax cases), both at first instance and on appeal, and are also involved in special courts of justice (such as for civil service cases) and in disciplinary courts.
