Mirjam Koster-Wentink will become director-general of the Education Implementation Service at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The Council of Ministers agreed to this on the proposal of Minister Rijkaart of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). The appointment takes effect on May 1, 2026.
The Education Executive Agency (DUO) is the link between everyone in education: students, parents, teachers, schools, universities, policy makers and government organizations. DUO provides, among other things, the financing of educational participants and educational institutions, organizes exams and collects and manages (educational) data. In this way, DUO makes good education possible.
The Director General (DG) DUO leads the organization of 3,500 employees and is ultimately responsible for the transition of DUO into a modern public service provider. Together with 2 main directors, the DG determines the course and provides support and advice to fellow board members and the responsible ministers on all DUO topics. The DG works closely with various partners, such as the political administration, educational institutions and students. By actively seeking connections between these perspectives, DUO contributes to an education system that functions better for everyone. Optimal processes and systems form solid ones compliance and digital transformation are important preconditions.
Mirjam Koster-Wentink MA has been chairman of the executive board of ROC Graafschap College since 2018. Before that, she was successively director Hospitality Business School and director of the Creative Technology Academy at Saxion University of Applied Sciences. She obtained a Master of Arts Strategic Management at Utrecht University.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
