Prof. Dr. Mirjam van Praag will become chairman of the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (AWTI) as of March 1, 2025. The Council of Ministers agreed to this on the proposal of Minister Bruins of Education, Culture and Science and Minister Beljaarts of Economic Affairs.
Van Praag is professor of entrepreneurship and leadership at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Previously, she was president of the university.
As a director and advisor, she has worked to increase the value of science by encouraging strategic collaboration, entrepreneurship and innovation from universities for social impact.
The appointment takes effect on March 1, 2025 and is for a period of four years.
The AWTI is the independent advisory council to the government and parliament in the field of science, technology and innovation. The council consists of ten experts from the scientific world and business. They are members of the AWTI in a personal capacity. The AWTI falls under the joint responsibility of the Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Minister of Economic Affairs.
