At the proposal of Minister Berendsen of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved 11 ambassadorial appointments. These are only final once the host countries have given their approval. The appointments will take effect from this summer.
The Council of Ministers agreed to the appointment of ambassadors to the following posts:
- Algeria, based in Algiers: Arjan Uilenreef, now ambassador in Tripoli;
- Iran, temporarily based in Baku: Janet Alberda, now ambassador in Baghdad;
- Israel, based in Tel Aviv: Stella Grubacic-Ronner, now DG for Multilateral Relations, Human Rights and Democracy at EEAS in Brussels;
- Kosovo, based in Pristina: Astrid de Vries, now head of department and Cultural Council in London;
- Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur: Michel Deelen, now Consul General in Lagos;
- Mozambique, based in Maputo: Lianne Houben, now ambassador in Bujumbura;
- Ukraine, based in Kyiv: Roelof van Ees, now flexibly deployable ambassador in the TZ Flexpool;
- Russia, based in Moscow: Marriet Schuurman, now ambassador in Tel Aviv;
- Thailand, based in Bangkok: Margriet Leemhuis, now ambassador in Lisbon;
- Turkey, based in Ankara: Alle Dorhout, now ambassador in Kyiv;
- United Arab Emirates, based in Abu Dhabi: Emiel de Bont, now ambassador in Tehran.
At the proposal of Minister Berendsen, the Kingdom Council of Ministers agreed to the appointment and revaluation to ambassadorial level in the Western Hemisphere (final after approval of the host country):
- Venezuela, based in Caracas: Carmen Gonsalves, now Chargé d’Affaires in Caracas.
