Apple Music gets karaoke mode- TECHBOOK

The next major iOS update has been in the works for months. Now Apple has announced another fun feature.

iOS 16.2 is said to bring a whole range of features that Apple announced some time ago. These include, for example, the new Freeform app, which allows several people to brainstorm together. Now the company has announced another feature with the release candidate for the new iOS version: Apple Music Sing.

Karaoke night with the iPhone

Sing is built right into the Apple Music app, which already supports follow-along lyrics. What is new is that users can mute the singing during playback in order to replace it with their own voice. All you have to do is turn on the lyrics for a song and then press the new microphone icon. This allows you to set the volume of the singing as you like.

Apple Music Sing offers different lyrics views. In this way, foreground and background vocals can be visually distinguished from one another. The app can also animate text to make it easier to follow. For songs with several singers, the text can be divided so that you can also sing as a duet.

To start with, Apple has set up a playlist with 50 songs that are particularly suitable for Apple Music Singing. Apart from that, a large number of the songs in Apple Music already support the new function.

Apple Music Sing launches with iOS 16.2

Singing enthusiasts still have to wait until the launch of iOS 16.2 to enjoy Apple Music Singing. They must also have an active Apple Music student, individual, or family subscription. The new feature does not work with the voice subscription.

Apple Music Sing is designed to work on iPhone 11 and later, iPad Pro 11 (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 12.9 (5th generation and later), iPad Air (4th generation and later), iPad (9th generation and later) , iPad mini (6th generation and newer) and Apple TV 4K (3rd generation).
