Today the appeal starts in the extra secure court at Schiphol with the discussion of the file. The chairman of the court already read some messages last year, sent around the murder of De Vries in the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat. “You have to have this dog. On his head ‘kkk’ hard ‘and” right through that kk head and body. He is dead. ” The suspects were silent.

The appeal is expected to last almost two weeks, with the criminal requirements of the Public Prosecution Service next Thursday.

What suspected client Raily B. says?

Crime journalist De Vries will be shot on Tuesday 6 July 2021 on the Lange Leidsedwarsstraat in the center. Nine days later he dies in the hospital of his injuries. The case will be dealt with in substance in 2022, but shortly before the court would rule, the investigation will be reopened by new information. Ultimately, the case must partly be dealt with again due to a move abroad of one of the judges.

In June last year, the court ruled in the case, now follows the appeal in which the case is again discussed in terms of content. The big difference with the substantive treatment of the criminal case earlier is the interrogation of Raily B. As a witness, what will take place today in public.

B. was arrested in his cell in CuraƧao in April this year, from there he would have led men involved in the murder of De Vries. That group consisted of a Polish and Antillean branch, B. would be the head of the Antillean group, which has since been largely tried. B. would have arranged payments, for example for hotel stays. Anonymous witnesses are also covered this week.

Silence

B. has kept silent during the first introductory sessions, so it remains to be seen whether he will answer questions from the court. His lawyer has already disputed that his client played a leading role or has given an order. “The assignment does not come from my client. My client is not ‘uncle’,” he said, referring to a name within the investigation.

For the relatives, the appeal again means a moment in which they come face to face with the suspects. Earlier they already made use of their right to speak in an impressive way and heard it for lifelong prison sentences against the three main suspects. The court did not impose them on in the end and came to imprisonment of maximum 28 years against which the judiciary appealed.

Next Thursday, the Public Prosecution Service will come up with the requirements.
