This weekend a major search was held in the High Fens for an Antwerp couple and their 8-month-old baby. They lost their way during a snow walk.
The couple left Manhay, where they were staying. During the snow walk, however, they lost their way. “When darkness fell, there was some panic and the hikers called the emergency number 112,” the Stavelot-Malmedy police zone told ‘Het Nieuwsblad’.
Off-road vehicles were used by the police, among other things, to find the walkers in the woods. The police were concerned that there was a small child. It cools down quickly in the Ardennes when the sun has set.
It was already dark when the couple and their baby were found. “They were happy when they saw one of our teams approaching. Fortunately, the baby was warmly swaddled,” police said.
