Another pop-up playground on Grote Markt Menen
“By placing a playground in the heart of our city, we increase the experience of the Grote Markt,” says Patrick Roose, alderman of Public Space. “Children will find a contemporary play set there: a fire truck that invites you to clamber, seesaw, swing and slide in a large sandbox. At the same time, the playground equipment is an invitation for parents with young children, who can enjoy life carefree on the terrace of one of our catering businesses.
Clear separation
The aircraft will be surrounded by flower boxes that form a clear and safe separation from the roadway. At the end of the summer, the fire truck will move to its permanent location on Diksmuideplein, which will be designed in a child-friendly manner and, together with the sports field on Vredesplein, will become a new attraction for children in the Nieuwe Tuinwijk.”
Mayor Eddy Lust is delighted with the tribute to our security services: “The fire brigade is always there for everyone in our city, and that at the most impossible but necessary moments. Our firefighters are undoubtedly pleased that our city services thought of them when developing the pop-up and that the hearts of many children will beat even faster to become a firefighter or woman one day. Maybe it will bring them new volunteers. Let’s hope for this and for a safe and fun, well-deserved holiday.”
