There was an explosion at the pizzeria on Kennemerlaan in IJmuiden last night. There is damage to the door and counter. The police cannot yet say whether there is a connection with previous explosions.
The explosion happened around a quarter past three last night. Initially, the police thought it was a fire, but once on site it turned out that there had been an explosion.
The police do not yet have a picture of the suspect and there are no witnesses. The police are calling on people who have seen something to report it.
It is not yet clear whether the incident is related to previous explosions. Since January 22, IJmuiden has been declared a safety risk area, making it easier for the police to opt for preventive searches.
The mayor made that decision because of the many recent incidents. For example, houses around Kennemerlaan have been shot at before and the Marbella club was closed after a fight.
