Anonymous says he broke into Roskomnadzor

The hacker team says it has gained access to information from the Russian surveillance service.

The international hacker group Anonymous says on Twitter that it has broken into Roskomnadzor, the Russian communications and media watchdog. Roskomnadzor monitors media censorship in Russia.

Anonymous said Thursday With an Anonymous TV Twitter account after successfully hacking into Roskomnadzor’s database and leaking more than 360,000 files in its hands. The file package is a whopping 820 gigabytes in size and the latest data is as recent as it was last week.

Although the data is available for download, you should not start downloading it, as there is no information about the actual contents of the package. It is possible that the package also contains malware that is installed on the machine when the package is downloaded.

Counter-censorship

An article published by Anonymous criticizes how Roskomnadzor tells the media what they can say and remove the stories in which the Russian invasion of Ukraine is called an invasion. The monitoring service has also blocked access to, for example, Facebook and Twitter.

– We are releasing this bulletin in anticipation that Russia may be cut off from the global Internet on March 11th. We hope that the Russians will have time to download this information before that, Anonymous writes.

Anonymous has quickly become known around the world since its declared cyber war against Russia. The hacker collective has carried out several attacks that have crashed important sites and disrupted Russian TV channels.
