The city council of Aa and Hunze wants to continue with mayor Anno Wietze Hiemstra. His first period of six years is almost over. That is why the city council had to decide on an extension.
Because green light has been given, the recommendation will now continue to King Jetta Klijnsma and the Minister of the Interior and King’s Relations. In the end, King Willem-Alexander puts a signature under the reappointment.
Finally, the mayor still has to be sworn in. As soon as all steps have been completed, Anno Wietze Hiemstra will probably be officially reappointed for the next six years.
