The traffic accident of Samsunspor football team on January 20, 1989 was among the black pages of Turkish football history. In the second half of the season, the bus with the Samsunspor football team, which went to Malatyaspor away, collided with the truck in the Havza district. In the accident, coach Nuri Asan and football players Mete Adanır, Muzaffer Badalıoğlu, Zoran Tomic and bus driver Asım Özkan lost their lives.
BLACK WAS ADDED TO SAMSUNSPOR’S COLORS AFTER THE ACCIDENT
Samsunspor, whose colors have been red and white since its establishment, added the black color to the red and white in memory of the names it lost after a while.
CHAMPION OF HONOR
Due to a traffic accident, Samsunspor could not continue the 1988-89 season, forfeited 3-0 defeat in all matches until the end of the season.
