The grants for summer sports of the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) were published this week. Annimari Korte got a blunt decision – his name was not found on the list at all.

Grant decisions are made by the Olympic Committee, although officially OKM distributes them.

– I was informed that I was halfway on SUL’s ranking list. I have been crossed out from there in OKM.

– SUL makes the list based entirely on statistics and rankings. I have met all the criteria. More than 10 other athletes have been taken behind me before me, Korte wonders.

The 100-meter hurdler star did not digest the decision.

– I filed a rectification claim yesterday. I received instructions from SUL, the Olympic Committee and the ministry to file a claim for correction.

“For the first time ever”

– I heard that the Olympic Committee has for the first time ever changed SUL to send a list. The ministry has only signed the one it received from OKM.

– I have not received any other justification than that two experts have made the decisions in the Olympic Committee, but according to SUL there has not been a single athletics expert there to make the decision.

When looking at the grant list, it was immediately noticed that the elimination from the athletics side was made specifically for athletes in running sports. Viivi Lehikoinen did not receive the full support of 20,000 euros, despite his incredible last season and his performance.

Samuli Samuelsson broke Tommi Hartonen held the 100-meter Finnish record last season, but like Kortte, remained without support euros.

Is OKM’s understanding of the proportions of species seriously wrong?

– Globally, in running sports, the place in the semifinals is comparable to the final place in field sports. For example, I would have reached the World Cup semi-finals with the result of my opening race last season after the first corona infection, Korte says, referring to his season’s best time of 13.10.

A tenth of a ton would go to living cleanly on the Kortte.

At the WC indoor games held in Helsinki, Korte broke his new record with 60 meters on the smooth. 7.55 was still enough for the final, even though Kortetta is not known as a top name on the smooth track.

– A really positive day. I wanted to run the record, and the final was only a plus.

In the final race, he was sixth with a time of 7.59.

Korte is talking about the SM medals in Sunday’s 60-meter hurdle race.
