Anne-Marie Fokkens and Arjan van der Giessen will be the faces of Brabant at the darts broadcasts on Viaplay from March. This streaming service has taken over the darts rights from RTL. Anne-Marie from Son en Breugel becomes the first female presenter in darts. Arjan is ‘a big name’ in the darts world and he switches from RTL to Viaplay. He takes care of the player interviews.
“I think it will be a surprise to many people that I am going to present a darts program,” says Anne-Marie in the radio program Afslag Zuid of Omroep Brabant. In the past Anne-Marie worked for Omroep Brabant, Ziggo Sport and Algemeen Dagblad. “I played football at Ziggo Sport and Sport Updates at RTL 7. I’m used to chatting about all kinds of subjects anyway.”
On Thursday 3 March, Anne-Marie will be responsible for the presentation of the darts matches at Viaplay for the first time. She alternates the presentation with Koert Westerman. “Furthermore, there is of course sufficient knowledge of darts at the table.”
And that knowledge is not just sitting at the table. Between the darts matches, there are regular switches to Arjan van der Giessen from Empel. He comes over from RTL and will interview the darts players for Viaplay and analyze the matches. Arjan presents the Zuidtribune sports program on Sunday at Omroep Brabant. “Arjan is a real winner. I can still learn a lot from this,” says Anne-Marie.
