Anna Seidel disqualified at home World Cup in Dresden

Short tracker Anna Seidel let herself be carried away into an unsportsmanlike manner at the World Cup in her hometown of Dresden and was disqualified.

On Saturday (February 4th, 2023) in the race over the 1,000m distance, Seidel prevented an opponent from changing position and was taken out of the race by the jury. Surprisingly, Seidel was already at the end of the quarter-finals and the Dresdener’s series of bankruptcies, bad luck and breakdowns in front of her home crowd continued.

It should finally work this time with a podium. Seidel said beforehand that she had “a good feeling” and that she seemed overly motivated in the race. On Sunday there is a second chance for the best German short tracker over 1,500 meters.

Schulting wins in Dresden

Victory went to serial winner Suzanne Schulting from the Netherlands, who relegated the newly crowned European Champion Hanne Desmet from Belgium to second place. Zhang Chutong (China) finished third.

Besides Seidel, Myeongbi Jung (Dresden/27th) and Betty Moeske (Rostock/30th) also started for the German team.
