To celebrate 50 years since independence, the local football federation has organized a match with the world champions, handsomely rewarded, in the capital Luanda on November 14th

October 30 – 10.04pm – MILAN

It’s true, you only turn fifty once (even 49 for that matter, but you know, we’re obsessed with round numbers, who knows why…). But twelve million euros, for a football match. Friendly. Madness, right? Not for everyone. This is in fact how much the Angolan football federation will pay to host Argentina on November 14th in Luanda, the capital, in the “November 11th Stadium”. The occasion is the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of the former Portuguese colony, obtained after a war that began in 1961 and lasted 14 years.

Leo Messi is always Leo Messi. And for those who have never seen football at the highest levels live, the opportunity is one that cannot be missed. The fact remains that the figure, according to what L’Equipe reports which takes up a news item from SportnewsAfrica.com, leaves one speechless. It seems that Morocco had previously stepped forward, fleeing after a request from the Argentine football federation.

The Angolan national team has been coached since the end of September by the Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle (47), former assistant of Hervé Renard with Zambia and Ivory Coast. Among the members of the team, also the Cagliari native Zito Luvumbo. Angola will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (21 December 2025 – 18 January 2026) in Morocco and will face Egypt, Zimbabwe and South Africa in Group B.
