Angela de Jong finds Jack van Gelder’s lamentations about the fact that his TV farewell was so abrupt laughable. She thinks it’s a good thing that he has disappeared from the TV. “Deal with it!” she shouts.

The viewer thought that Jack van Gelder was inextricably linked to Hélène Hendriks’ talk show, but nothing turned out to be less strange: the team preferred to work with Rutger Castricum and Jack was quietly kicked out. He allegedly misbehaved behind the scenes and talks about a return failed: Jack wanted more.

“Well, huh, huh!”

Jack has recently made himself very known by and square public to lash out at Hélène and with that he has finally dug his grave. Of course, we will never see it again as a permanent part of a program and he thinks that is an incredible shame. He says it saddens him.

What a cry, says Angela de Jong. “Well, hey, hey, he has finally opened up and fortunately he no longer makes frantic attempts to get on television,” she sneers in the AD Media Podcast.

Deal with it

Angela thinks Jack is a poser. “It is always said that the greatest injustice in the world has been done to Jack van Gelder, but he had a nice job at SBS in the twilight of his career, occasionally sat at a table and that stopped at a certain point, partly because he misbehaved behind the scenes.”

She continues: “We now know from Wilfred Genee that more has happened than one angry mood and yes, then it stops. Then I think: you are 75, deal with ittoo bad!”

“Come on!”

Jack is not such a great loss, according to Angela. “It’s not like we’re all standing on the Malieveld because a television celebrity has been unfairly kicked out. I don’t feel that need at all. I think Jack is a nice man otherwise, but didn’t he have a nice farewell at NOS?”

She concludes: “There is also another life. Don’t get hung up on whether or not you spend an hour a week somewhere, people! Besides: 75! Come on! There are more fun things.”
