Angela de Jong is Marco Borsato’s walking nightmare. For a moment, the singer seemed to be able to return to the stage without any obstacles, but the AD opinion diva puts a stop to that…
The acquittal of Marco Borsato caused euphoria among his colleagues: celebrities shouted en masse that he should return to the stage as soon as possible. But in the meantime, facts have surfaced that may not be punishable, but are morally reprehensible, such as sending dirty messages to an underage girl.
Critical Angela
Angela de Jong, with her critical attitude, has caused sentiment around Marco to change again. More and more people, like her, want Marco to express himself or express regret for the dirty messages he has sent, preferably in a journalistic and independent program, and not to a friendly colleague.
TV critic Victor Vlam thinks Angela is clever. “I really agree 100 percent with the camp that is against Angela. I think what she says is really disgusting, but I have to say that I think she really won this debate last week. Without a doubt, I would add,” he says in Victor Indicates TV.
Admiration
It was a successful week for Angela in terms of influencing the public debate, according to Victor. “I think she has convinced a lot of people of her position and I think that’s a real shame, because I don’t agree with her at all, but it does show: these are things that Angela can really do well.”
He continues: “She has done this at the cutting edge for years as a media columnist. Since she has a general column, she has become less relevant, but she can do this very well. I watched it with some admiration last week. I also think that Tina is a little less good at it, to be honest.”
Size too small
Victor is referring to Tina Nijkamp, who is pro-Marco. “She can do those viewership analyzes really well and I think her criticism of programming schedules is often valid, but when she gets involved in the debate about Marco Borsato, you see that she is a size too small for Angela de Jong. She really couldn’t handle that.”
It bothers Victor that Angela is so anti-Marco. “I think Angela’s behavior is really disgusting. I think it’s really disgusting. If you just look at the facts of Marco Borsato, it is logical that you think to yourself: this man deserves a second chance, because possibly he did nothing.”
No interview
Should Marco now sit with Eva Jinek? “I would certainly not advise him to give an interview at this time, because the tone of Angela’s piece suggests that everything he says in it, every processing, so to speak, is only used against him. That interview will become a new stick to beat Marco with.”
Tina said in RTL Boulevard that she does expect a TV interview. “I actually think he will sit at the table with the Knoops at Pauw & De Wit.”
Circus monkey
Rob Goossens doesn’t think that’s necessary, he said at the time. “I understand that Angela is like: I want to remind the Netherlands that some things came to light in that courtroom and, in my opinion, she is going through the motions.”
“It is up to everyone whether or not to ask him very critical questions, I also have some questions for him, but he is not a circus monkey who has to jump through our hoops.”
‘What are you doing?’
Luuk Ikink understands Angela. “I think she might also be bothered by the fact that we all watched that lawsuit and thought: what are you doing in that house and what are you sending strange messages and what are you doing? Now we don’t think about that at all and he is happily eating an ice cream.”
Rob concludes: “I can imagine that that is indeed Angela de Jong’s idea: to ensure that we do not forget that some crazy things have happened, which you would easily forget based solely on the fact that he has been acquitted.”
