Angela de Jong gives up Renze Klamer: ‘Towards the drain’

The switch from Renze Klamer to RTL 4 is not yet what was expected. The last thing he could use now is a negative column by Angela de Jong. And yet it is there now.

Angela de Jong makes today in her infamous AD column quite chopped from Renze Klamer’s talk show. The presenter is currently on the channel with his program every Saturday and Sunday evening, but the opinion diva is not impressed. In fact, she is already seriously concerned about his TV career.

floor drain

It seems that Renze is going down a bit, before he has even been able to blossom, Angela thinks. “Sometimes you see a nice, talented presenter slowly drifting towards the drain and as a viewer all you can do is make a quick prayer that someone intervenes before it is too late.”

She points out that Renze was considered ‘one of the crown princes of the NPO’ for years. “Walked into the shelter of radio and TV to join the ranks of Jeroen Pauw and Eva Jinek.”

Deep pity

Renze is, however, very far from that, Angela thinks. “I’ve struggled through Renze on Saturday for a few weekends now and I can only feel deeply sorry for him.”

According to her, the role of showman that Renze plays at RTL does not suit him at all. She is particularly annoyed by the ‘infantile’ news quiz he plays with his guests. “The viewing figures of Renze are therefore good, on Saturday and Sunday.”

Gun factor

Angela thinks it is a shame that Renze’s talent is no longer used. “He has the gun factor and has proven that he can make an entertaining talk show.”

However, this is not all, she thinks. Angela hopes that someone at the top of RTL will realize ‘that he deserves a program in which he can be himself’.
