Angela de Jong urgently advises Matthijs van Nieuwkerk not to make the switch to Talpa. She thinks it will be disastrous for his image. “It would be really stupid.”
Frans Klein, the big TV boss of the NPO who is currently on non-active because of his role in the DWDD scandal, will make the switch to Talpa, according to the AD. There he would earn about twice as much as now. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk could also use such a nice increase in salary after his long TV break.
‘Would be very strange’
It wouldn’t surprise Manuel Venderbos, presenter of Shownieuws, if Matthijs moves in Frans’ wake. “I was suddenly thinking because of Frans Klein: wouldn’t Matthijs van Nieuwkerk just go to Talpa?”, he wonders aloud in the AD Media podcast.
AD media journalist Dennis Jansen analyses: “Well, you can, but you can’t.”
Angela de Jong can’t imagine it. “That would also be very strange. Frans Klein to Talpa is already very strange, but Matthijs from Nieuwkerk to Talpa is even more strange.”
Emergency handle
Manuel doesn’t think it’s completely unthinkable. “Well, first pre-sort one and then he cycles in the other.”
Angela would consider it a sign of weakness. “Then it is kind of an emergency measure from him too. That man remained with the public broadcaster all his life. It then breathes everything public broadcasting. And now, because he absolutely wants to be on television, he would still go to Talpa and surrender skin and hair. I don’t think that will ever work out well.”
Speculate
Dennis emphasizes that this rumor is not going anywhere yet. “It is really speculation. I really haven’t heard it anywhere.”
Angela: “Anyway, the idea that if Frans Klein goes, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk will follow, is of course not completely crazy. But it would be really stupid.”
