Andy van der Meijde shows up as a drag queen: 920 thousand viewers

Andy van der Meijde appeared yesterday as a drag queen in the television show Make Up Your Mind by Carlo Boszhard. He surprised not only the panelists, but also the 920 thousand viewers at home.

After last year’s 1.2 million-viewed special, the Carlo Boszhard show Make Up Your Mind is now back with a whole series of episodes. After 870 thousand viewers and 1.040 million viewers, the third episode last night attracted 920 thousand viewers (22% market share) on RTL 4. Not a linear mega hit, but a fine score.

Andy surprised

The biggest surprise of the evening was Andy van der Meijde as drag queen Sylvie Mercy. He didn’t participate in the show, but did show up at the end as mystery drag† And all to promote inclusiveness in the football world. “You just have to be yourself: always and everywhere”, said the former football player.

Of the five celebrities who did perform as drag queens, three have been revealed: Joris Linssen, Ron Boszhard and Ferry Doedens. Ron, Carlo’s brother, flew out first. “He always wins with Stratego and he always wins with all the other games, but it always goes wrong on television!” Carlo screamed.

Ron was sad that he was the first to lose weight. “I make it a habit to leave first every time!” he said, referring to his participation in Wie is de Mol.

The big winner of the TV evening was Heel Holland Bakt with almost 2 million viewers (40%) on NPO 1. The most viewed alternatives were Oh Wat Een Jaar with 912 thousand viewers (12%) on RTL 4, Here Are De Van Rossems with 678 thousand viewers (13%) on NPO 2 and Code van Coppens with 364 thousand viewers (7%) on SBS 6.

The winners at half past nine were Ik Vertrek with 1.5 million viewers (33%) on NPO 1, Make Up Your Mind with 920 thousand viewers (22%) on RTL 4, Impossible Duets with 430 thousand viewers (10%) on SBS 6 and Nieuwsuur with 390 thousand viewers (9%) on NPO 2.
