Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic ended the collaboration with his trainer and former rival Andy Murray after just six months.
This announced the Serb, which is in a form crisis, on Tuesday. “Thank you very much, coach Andy, for all the hard work, the fun and support in the past six months on and off the square”wrote number six in the world rankings on Instagram.
Djokovic had recently canceled his participation in the ATP Masters in Rome. The 37-year-old, who in late autumn of his career his 25th major-Title hunted, both in Monte Carlo and Madrid had failed at his opening hurdle. In the coming week he will compete with a wildcard in Geneva.
Murray was just half a year coach of Djokovic
Murray also confirmed the separation. “Many thanks to Novak for the incredible opportunity for cooperation and to his team for hard work in the past six months”wrote the Scotsman, who ended his active career in 2024: “I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.”
At the end of November the Grand Slam-Crord winner Djokovic and Murray announced their partnership. Djokovic had separated from his long -standing success coach, the former Wimbledon winner Goran Ivanisevic, in March 2024. Murray ended his career as a player in the summer after the Olympic Games in Paris, where Djokovic won gold.
